Award for bravery

Former Charles City Deputy Alisha Buchanon is presented with an award for her bravery after she unselfishly sacrificed her life during an Aug. 1, 2022 robbery attempt. Buchanon was shot in the back while trying to deescalate a situation and was saved by her bulletproof vest after being shot at nearly a dozen times. The award was presented to her by Charles City County Sheriff’s Office.
