Charles City Circuit Court awarded $22,809 preservation grant

The Library of Virginia announced that the Circuit Court Records Preservation (CCRP) program has awarded Charles City Circuit Court Clerk Victoria Washington a grant in the amount of $22,809 for local records preservation.

The funds will be used to conserve General Index to Deeds no. 2 1913-1957-Grantees: General Index to Deeds no 2, 1913-1957-Grantors; General Index to Deeds No. 3 1958-1994-Grantors A-K; Land Book 1929-1932; Land Book 1933-1936; and Land Book 1937-1940 stored in her office. The records will also be digitized so that they can be available to the public through the clerk’s online records management system.

“We’re very excited,” commented Washington. “These records are the history of our county. We have an obligation to make sure that they are available for future generations.”
