Charles City County’s Steering Committee and the Chickahominy Health District (CHD) have released the 2024-28 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

The plan aims to address county priorities that include healthcare access and quality, economic stability, infrastructure, and workplace development, and childhood health and education. The CHIP is a five-year plan that will guide collaborative efforts to address the priorities with partners in healthcare, schools, nonprofit organizations, and local government.

“A Community Health Improvement Plan is a great example of collaboration and teamwork,” said Population Health Planning and Improvement Coordinator for CHD Emily Hines. “We had many partners coming together with the shared goals of wellness and resilience for Charles City County.”

The plan was developed as part of a 2023 survey with feedback from stakeholders and residents of the county. The plan can be viewed at https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/chickahominy/community-health-assessment/.
