A playground with historical emphasis in Charles City

Above, kids are sky-bound on brand new equipment as part of Harrison Park’s playground reopening held Tuesday morning. The new playground’s theme coincides with the history of the Charles City Black Sox, a baseball team that represented the county in the Negro League until 1988. The league allowed African-American players to participate in baseball, a theme showed by one enthusiastic playground explorer (below).
