NKHS DECA makes history

New Kent High School’s DECA chapter qualified for the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida, that was held on Apr. 25-29, becoming the first team from the school to attend the event.. The team achieved the “Thrive Level” recognition at the state level, receiving recognition for outstanding performances in chapter campaigns which includes being honored for the “Rule of 75” and logging more than 75 hours of community service. Member Isabelly Smiley placed fourth in the School-Based Enterprise Role Play event, running the business venture “The Trojan Armory”. Sponsor Peggy Spiak received the prestigious Friend of DECA Award and DECA advisor Aimee Walters was named Outstanding Chapter Advisor.
