Two New Kent schools earn Virginia Purple Star designation

New Kent Middle and New Kent High School have been awarded the Virginia Purple Star Designation for the 2025-26 school year.

The prestigious award is presented by the Virginia Council of the Educational Opportunity for Military Children. The award recognizes schools for their outstanding commitment to supporting military-connected students and families.

“We are incredibly proud of our staff and students and staff at New Kent High School and New Kent Middle School,” commented New Kent Superintendent of Schools Brian Nichols. “These designations reflect our division’s deep commitment to honoring and supporting the families who serve our nation.”

The schools will receive official resolutions for the accolade. Each school completed all activities to earn the designation, which is valid for three years.
