Letter to the Editor: Says another rural landscape is gone
Another 2,000 of New Kent’s rural landscape is gone; cut down and hauled away.
This time, the destruction of the roadside forested buffer occurred along the North Courthouse Road (Route 155) as part of the new Edenbridge subdivision. In defense to New Kent County’s current planners, Edenbridge was approved prior to their involvement.
Yes, New Kent is growing, but the growth is possible while still maintaining the features that assure our county’s rural character. To the extent possible, residents prefer to see pastures, agricultural crops, and forested buffers along our county roads.
I am confident that our planners are aware of the residents’ wishes. Our future is in their hands, and ours.
