Four named to President’s List at James Madison University

Four residents were named to James Madison University’s President’s List for the Spring 2025 semester. Hunter Meadows and Clara Fenandez, both of Lanexa, Daniella Flowers of New Kent, and Brianna Bartlett of Quinton, were recognized for their academic excellence during the semester. In order to be named to the President’s List, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher.

Several residents earn degrees from James Madison University

Several local residents earned degrees from James Madison University as part of May commencement ceremonies. Avery Fernandez of Lanexa graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Logan Broz of Providence Forge earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. Jordan Creed of Quinton graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, and Holly Hazelwood of Lanexa graduated with a Masters of Art and Teaching in Education. Five local residents named to Dean’s List at Radford University

Five local residents were named to the Deans’ List at Radford University for the Spring 2025 semester. Caroline Carter and Trenton Hudgins, both of Quinton, and Max Bredehoft, Mark Daniel, and Aiden Melton, all of Quinton, were recognized for their academic accolades. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be taking at least 12 credit hours and accumulate a grade-point average of 3.4 or better.

Eight locals named to James Madison University’s 2025 Spring Dean’s List

Several local students were named to the Dean’s List at James Madison University for the Spring 2025 semester. Christian Jones and Olivia Brightwell, both of New Kent, Avery Fernandez, Akira Hicks, and Kendall Hicks, all of Lanexa, Ellie Gray and Laura Clark, both of Providence Forge, and Jacob Snawder of Quinton, were recognized for their academic achievements. To be eligible for the list, a student must accumulate a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while taking at least 12 graded credit hours.

Ross named to Milwaukee School of Engineering Dean’s List

Katie Ross, the 2023 valedictorian of New Kent High School, was named to Milwaukee School of Engineering Dean’s List for the 2025 Spring Semester. To be recognized for the achievement, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.2 while taking at least 12 credit hours.

New Kent resident selected to participate in environmental prevention program

Sadie Call, a resident of New Kent, was selected to participate in a new environmental prevention program. Call was selected as one of 30 young leaders into the EarthEcho International and S.C. Johnson program to combat plastic pollution in the Southeastern United States. She will work as a team to develop and execute plastics pollution mitigation campaigns and projects to address the issue authentically in their local communities.

Vick earns Bachelor of Science degree from Longwood University

Lauren Vick, a 2022 graduate of New Kent High School, recently completed her undergraduate studies at Longwood University. Vick graduated Summa Cum Laude, earning a Bachelor of Science in Communications Sciences and Disorders.

Charles City High School graduates instructed to become authors of their stories
