I just wanted to thank Dr. Brian Nichols for his tireless efforts to get all New Kent County Public School employees vaccinated. When we look at the last year or so of this virus, one thing that we tend to forget about are the young adults and kids in our school systems. We must understand that for them, especially for the athletes, what they are doing to have the opportunity to play games is amazing. As a school board member, the question I am asked the most is, “When are schools going to open for in-person learning for all students?” This question has not left my mind for the past 10 months. New Kent Public Schools ‘Grab and Go’ meals will have a change in its schedule beginning Feb. 1. Meals will be available for pick-up at George Watkins Elementary school each Tuesday from 8-10 a.m. or 3-5 p.m. beginning Feb. 1. In order to be recognized with the honor, a student must accumulate a grade-point average of 3.4 or higher while taking at least 12 credit hours of courses.
Three local students were named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2020 semester at the College of William and Mary. Abbey Coutu of Quinton, Augustine Gilbride of Providence Forge, and Asia Prentiss of Charles City were each recognized for their achievement. In order to be named to the Dean’s List at the College of William and Mary, a student must be taking at least 12 credit hours and earn a Quality Point Average of 3.6 or higher for the semester.
