Pittman named to Honorable Mention Honor Roll at McPherson College

William Pittman, a resident of Charles City, was named to the Honorable Mention Honor Roll at McPherson College for the Spring 2025 semester. To be recognized for this achievement, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.

Allen earns Masters degree from Texas Tech University

Joseph Allen III, a resident of Quinton, recently completed postgraduate studies at Texas Tech University. Allen earned a Master of Science Degree with a specialty in data science during May 15 commencement ceremonies.

Four named to SNHU Spring 2025 President’s List

Four local residents were named to the President’s List at Southern New Hampshire University for the Spring 2025 semester. Kyle McCuistion and Joseph Hampton, both of Providence Forge, Glen Zabriskie of Quinton, and Noah Braddock of Lanexa were recognized for their academic accolades. To be recognized for the honor, a student must be enrolled full-time and accumulate a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher.

Letter to the Editor: Says Charles City Planning Commission failed by favoring request for data center

Charles City County’s Planning Commission met May 8 to vote on a request to rezone 515 acres situated in a residential and agricultural area of District One for a hyperscale data center complex developed by Diode Ventures. After two hours of public comments opposing the project, the commission voted to send a favorable vote for the project to the board of supervisors. While most understand the need for development in this county to increase revenue, many were left dumbfounded with their vote and their blatant disrespect for the community. Survey launched to inquire public input for next Charles City superintendent of schools

Charles City County’s School Board has begun the process of hiring a new superintendent and is seeking public input. The school board has launched a survey to facilitate community involvement. The survey is accessible at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CharlesCity25. It can also be found on the school division’s web page, with hard copies available at the school board’s central office and the main office of both schools. A public hearing for further input will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 6:30 p.m. inside the auditorium of Charles City High School.
