The 15th annual Providence Forge Christmas Parade will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8, beginning at 2 p.m. The parade route will occupy eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. Route 60 (Pocahontas Trail) between Carriage Road (Rt. 629) and Olivet Church Road (Rt. 618). Traffic will be closed at 1:45 p.m. and diverted to Boulevard Road to bypass the parade route. The parade co-grand marshals will be Sgt. Jonathan Miles of the Virginia State Police, and the Rev. Charles City County Sheriff’s Office will begin its initial trial for using automated speed enforcement cameras in Charles City County Public School speed zones. Beginning Dec. 2, the warning period will begin, allowing drivers to have a one-month adjustment to get used to the changes in the area. Warning summonses will be sent to violators during that time frame. Live enforcement will begin on Jan. 6, with motorists who exceed the school zone speed limit by 10 or more miles per hour receiving a summons by mail. These summonses carry a fine of $100.
