Meinhofer named to Shepherd University’s Dean List

Mathew Meinhofer, a native of Lanexa, was named to Shepherd University’s Dean List for the spring semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s Least, a student must maintain a 3.4 grade point average while taking at least 15 hours of coursework. Shepherd University is a public liberal arts university located in West Virginia.

Davis earns Master’s degree from VCU

W.R. “Trey” Davis III, a 2004 graduate of New Kent High School, will graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University on May 14 with a Master’s of Business Administration. Davis earned undergraduate degrees from Virginia Tech. There, he double-majored, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources. Davis has been employed by the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation since 2008. He works as a lobbyist, specializing in representing farmers and landowners before the General Assembly and regulatory agencies. Davis is the son of Ellen Davis and W.R. “Ray” Davis Jr. of Eltham.

Two Providence Forge residents to graduate from John Tyler Community College

Two residents of Providence Forge will graduate from John Tyler Community College this upcoming Friday (May 13) at the college’s Midlothian campus. Michael Doan and Casey Rapalee will be among 1,200 students receiving their degree or certificate as the ceremony kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Doan will be receiving an Associated of Applied Sciences degree in the field of criminal justice. His specialization will focus on homeland security. Casey Rapalee has earned an Associate of Science Degree with a concentration in business administration.

Charles City voters reminded of deadlines for local elections

The Constitution of Virginia requires that you be registered in the precinct in which you live in order to be qualified to vote. Dual Democratic/Republic Primary, Fourth Congressional District Election is being held on Tuesday, June 14, in Charles City. In order to vote, you must be registered by May 23, 5 p.m. The General Registrar’s Office is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (5 p.m. on May 23) and will be open on Saturday, June 11 for the convenience of registered voters who may need to vote by absentee ballot.
