By Community Member | November 4, 2023 8:38 am

On the threshold of the 2023 school board elections, this letter is a reminder of the potentially high stakes of their outcome. I taught French in New Kent County and in West Point Public Schools for nine years. My career in education came to an end abruptly in 2018 when I refused to formally and publicly contradict my belief that girls are not boys. By Community Member | October 31, 2023 8:46 pm

I am writing in support of Molly McBeath for New Kent County’s School Board position in District 5. Molly was appointed in June 2021 to replace the seat vacated by the late Dr. Gail Hardinge. She has the experience, professionalism, and skills necessary to continue in her current seat on the board. She adapted quickly to the role and developed strong working relationships with the administration, school board, and board of supervisors. Molly understands the important local issues at the forefront of education including the teaching shortage, teacher and staff compensation, and school safety and learning loss from the recent…

I am writing in support of Elizabeth Remorenko and ask that you strongly consider voting for her on Nov. 7 for the seat on New Kent County’s School Board in District 2. Elizabeth is the most qualified, committed, and prepared candidate for this position. She is the parent of two children in the school system and is a native of New Kent. She attended our schools and graduated from the Governor’s School for International Studies. She exemplifies the New Kent ‘Portrait of a Graduate’ and personifies the desired outcome of a public-school education. Elizabeth began attending school board meetings regularly…
