Experience: Worked in court system since 1997, has served as NK Circuit Court Clerk since 2016. Reason for running: “I love the county and I love preserving the history of it. I like providing the citizens with great quality service. I love the large community that has the small town feel. Why people should vote for you: “I have the experience at the position, I know the citizens, I have an open door and I will have the best interest in them and for our county.”
Ashton English, a recent graduate of Charles City High School, participated in the Dukes Making a Difference (DMAD) volunteerism outreach program at James Madison University. English was one of 140 students who volunteered with nonprofit agencies in the Harrisonburg area to address social issues, and interact with individuals and organizations to make the local community a better place.
Four local students earned degrees from James Madison University after completing studies during the Summer 2023 semester. Isabelle Aczel, of Lanexa, graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Services Administration. Mark Golovan, of Quinton, earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Ethan Jordon, of Providence Forge, graduated with Bachelor of Social Work degree, and Rhiannon Rogers, of Quinton, earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
Two local residents earned academic recognition from James Madison University for the Summer 2023 semester. Rylie Cross, a resident of Providence Forge, was named to the President’s List at the university. To be recognized for the achievement, a student must pass at least 12 credit hours and accumulate a grade-point average of 3.9 or better. Emily Minor, a resident of New Kent, was named to the Dean’s List for the semester. In order to earn the accolade, a student must be taking at least 12 credit hours and earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
It has been an honor and privilege to serve in partnership with Thomas Evelyn. After attending a kickoff event to support Thomas’ reelection to District 1 supervisor, I fully understand what it means to be “New Kent Strong.” Thomas’ record shows why he is the only candidate for District 1.
