Charles City County Fair exhibit results

Judy Ledbetter amassed 34 ribbons as the top adult blue ribbon winner at the Charles City County Fair held on Sept. 9. Pam Derby finished in second place with 29 ribbons and David Ledbetter’s 18 blue ribbons placed third. Yvonne Bradby’s coconut pie was named “Best in Charles City.” In the youth division, Jase Adkins received top honors with three blue ribbons. Ethan Adkins finished in second with two blue ribbons. Early childhood information session coming to Charles City

An informational session that will provide resources to families of children who have yet to start school will be coming to Charles City. Thrive Birth Five will host a Family Education Café on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 5-7 p.m. at the Chickahominy Tribal Center, 8200 Lott Cary Road, Providence Forge. The location is in Charles City County. The session is geared to families to educate parents and guardians of resources that focuses on building community and a camaraderie of families in the area. Williams named to Dean’s List at Howard University

Alexis Williams, Charles City High School’s Class of 2021 valedictorian, was named to the Dean’s List at Howard University’s College of Arts and Sciences for the 2022-23 year. To qualify for this honor, a student must be enrolled full-time and accumulate a grade-point average of 3.5 or better.
