Several locals complete academic studies at College of William and Mary

The College of William and Mary has announced that seven individuals from the local area have graduated as part of Spring 2023 commencement ceremonies. Abbey Coutu and Braden Coutu, both of Barhamsville, graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees. Brendan Millis and Todd Reynolds, both of Lanexa, also graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees. Lawrence Lowe-Papa of New Kent graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Abigail Carlson of Providence Forge graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, and Nia Darrisaw of Quinton graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Half-dozen local residents named to Dean’s List at College of William & Mary

Six local residents were named to the College of William and Mary’s Dean’s List for the Spring 2023 semester. Joey Houska and Todd Reynolds, both of Lanexa, Jackson Henning and Gabriel Merritt, both of New Kent, and Abby Carlson and Aug Gilbride, both of Providence Forge, were recognized for their academic achievements at the institution. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be taking at least 12 credit hours and earn a quality-point average of 3.6 or higher.

Jefferson earns Master’s Degree from Widener University

LaDonna Jefferson, a resident of Providence Forge, recently completed her studies at Widener University in Chester as part of May 9-11 commencement ceremonies. Jefferson earned a Master’s of Social Work degree from the school’s college of health and human services.

Kinder earns Master’s Degree from Cedarville University

A Quinton resident recently earned their Master’s Degree from Cedarville University. John Kinder graduated during Spring 2023 commencement ceremonies with a Master of Arts in Biblical Leadership.

Crowning achievement: Charles City grads best odds to celebrate

Knowing your self-worth and hitting milestone achievements was a message delivered Saturday morning to Charles City High School’s Class of 2023. Forty-eight graduates were recognized as part of commencement ceremonies. Charles City High School Class of 2023 Valedictorian- Kayla King

Kayla King posted a grade-point average of 4.2 as valedictorian for Charles City High School’s Class of 2023 She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Solar Team that won the State Solar Championship in 2022. Kayla will be attending Brightpoint Community College before transferring to a four-year institution where she plans to major in nursing with an emphasis in labor and delivery. She is the daughter of Michael and Tracy King.

Charles City High School Class of 2023 Salutatorian- Henry Lotz

Henry Lotz is salutatorian of Charles City County High School’s Class of 2023 with a grade-point average of 4.2. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Solar Team that won the State Solar Championship in 2022. Henry plans to attend Brightpoint Community College before transferring to the University of Virginia where he plans to major in computer science. He is the son of Henry and Michele Lotz.
