Roy Kegley, a resident of Quinton, has been named to the Dean’s List of Emory and Henry College for the Fall 2022 semester. In order to be recognized for the accolade, a student must accumulate a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher while enrolled full-time.
New Kent Superintendent of Schools Brian Nichols has been named as a 2022 Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). New Kent County Sheriff’s Captain J. Joseph McLaughlin III graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) at Northwestern University. McLaughlin completed the 22-week course which provides upper-level college instruction in a total of 27 core blocks. Topics include leadership, human resources, employee relations, organizational behavior, applied statistics, planning and policy development, and budgeting and resource allocation. McLaughlin was one of 21 students to complete the program, which was held in Evanston, Illinois from May to October.
The Benjamin Harrison Bridge that connects Charles City and Prince George County will see several closures beginning this weekend. Starting on Friday, Dec. 9, the bridge will close at 7 p.m. and remained closed until Monday, Dec. 12, 5 a.m. From Monday, Dec. 12, to Thursday, Dec. 15, the bridge will be closed overnight from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Weather permitting, the bridge will completely reopen on Friday, Dec. 16.
