Mikaela Jefferson, a 2018 graduate of New Kent High School, was named to the Dean’s List at Old Dominion University for the Spring 2022 semester. In order to be recognized for the achievement, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade point average of 3.4 or better.
Annabelle Brame, a 2020 graduate of New Kent High School, earned Dean’s List honors from the University of Delaware for the Spring 2022 semester. In order to receive the accolade, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
Charles City County High School’s Class of 2022 overcame every obstacle thrown their way through their high school career. Saturday morning’s commencement ceremony made sure everyone in attendance knew that as well. Marisa Greenhow posted a grade-point average of 3.96 as valedictorian for Charles City High School’s Class of 2022. She is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, JROTC, National High School Society of Honor Students, and a member of the girls’ basketball team. Marisa will be attending Virginia State University and pursue her studies in Marketing Management. She is the daughter of Marlon and Rachel Greenhow.
Walter Dickerson is salutatorian of Charles City County High School’s Class of 2022 with a grade-point average of 3.7. He is a member of the National Honor Society, JROTC, Scholastic Bowl, the indoor track and field team, and the outdoor track and field team. Walter has enlisted in the National Guard and will attend Old Dominion University in Spring 2023 to pursue his studies in Mechanical Engineering and Technology. He is the son of Carlos and Bruce Dickerson.

It wasn’t the norm for New Kent High School’s Class of 2022. But the message was clear at Friday night’s graduation inside of VCU’s Siegel Center: They are the class that can persevere through anything.
