Several local students were recognized for their academic achievements at James Madison University for the Fall 2021 semester. Marisa Turner of New Kent, Sarah Rice of Quinton, and Haley Holland and Jacob Mattson, both of Providence Forge, were named to the President’s List for their academic achievements. Charlie Taylor, a resident of Providence Forge, recently completed their studies at Champlain College in Vermont. Taylor graduated from the college with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
Bottom of the Bridge LaSertoma Club is offering two scholarship grants to graduating students of New Kent High School. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a New Kent High School Senior pursuing a college education at either a community college or four-year institution. Another $1,000 will be awarded to a New Kent High School senior enrolled in a technical, nursing, or culinary arts field through Bridging Communities Career and Technical Center. Annabelle Brame, a resident of New Kent, was named to the University of Delaware’s Dean’s List for the Fall 2021 semester. To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean’s List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
Zachary Wells, a resident of Quinton, was named to Bethel University’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2021 semester. In order to be recognized for the achievement, a student must accumulate a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher while taking at least 12 or more academic work courses.
