Busetto named to Dean’s List at University of Maryland Global Campus

Jeremiah Busetto, a resident of Providence Forge, has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Maryland Global Campus for the Fall semester. In order to be recognized for the accomplishment, a student must complete at least six credits during the term while accumulating a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

New Kent’s Historical Society Museum, Genealogical Center closes for season

New Kent’s Historical Society Museum and Genealogical Center has closed for the Winter season. The museum will reopen to visitors on Saturday, Mar. 5, 2022, and the genealogical center will reopen on Monday, Mar. 7, 2022. For questions or more information, visit www.newkenthistoricalsoc.com.

Grant of $37,000 awarded to preserve records in New Kent County’s Circuit Court

New Kent County’s Circuit Court has been awarded a grant to preserve local records. The Library of Virginia announced that $37,683 will be used to preserve documents in New Kent. Funds will be used to conserve Land Book (Land Tax Book), 1884; Personal Property Tax Books 1863, 1865-1869; Plat Book 2, p. 1-126, 1938-1952; Plat Book 2, p. 126-250, 1903, 1953-1954; Plat Book 3A, p. 1-126, 1958-1961; Plat Book 3A, p. 127-250, 1962-1967; Plat Book 7, 1974-1976, and Register of Births and Deaths 1890-1896. “We’re very excited to continue to preserve New Kent County’s records,” said New Kent County Circuit…

Charles City High School track reopens for public use with conditions

Charles City County’s School Board voted to reopen the high school track to the public with conditions at its meeting Tuesday night. The track, which is used for walking purposes, had been closed to the public since April due to refurbishment. After the project was completed in late October, secondary issues such as grass-cutting and aesthetics had to be addressed. Among conditions for the reopening of the high school track to the public include limiting the hours to when students are off campus. New Kent Lions Club announces Peace poster contest winners

New Kent County Lions Club has announced the winners of their annual Peace Poster contest. Karley Jasper was the winner who represents Charles City County Public Schools. Krista Lee emerged as the winner of New Kent County Public Schools, and Keagan Rejas was named the winner in the home-school category.
