Mark Daniel, a resident of Quinton, graduated from Radford University as part of May 10 commencement ceremonies. Daniel graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the university.
Hannah Milby, a resident of New Kent, was named to the Dean’s Honor List at Cedarville University for the Spring 2025 semester. To be recognized for the achievement, a student must take at least 12 credit hours while obtaining a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher.
New Kent Parks and Recreation will once again take part in the Play All Day VA on June 20. Organized by the Virginia Recreation and Park Society, Play All Day VA aims to promoted the importance of playing for all ages, abilities, and interests through local parks and free or discounted recreational programming. William Pittman, a resident of Charles City, was named to the Honorable Mention Honor Roll at McPherson College for the Spring 2025 semester. To be recognized for this achievement, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
Joseph Allen III, a resident of Quinton, recently completed postgraduate studies at Texas Tech University. Allen earned a Master of Science Degree with a specialty in data science during May 15 commencement ceremonies.
Four local residents were named to the President’s List at Southern New Hampshire University for the Spring 2025 semester. Kyle McCuistion and Joseph Hampton, both of Providence Forge, Glen Zabriskie of Quinton, and Noah Braddock of Lanexa were recognized for their academic accolades. To be recognized for the honor, a student must be enrolled full-time and accumulate a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher.
Charles City County’s Planning Commission met May 8 to vote on a request to rezone 515 acres situated in a residential and agricultural area of District One for a hyperscale data center complex developed by Diode Ventures. After two hours of public comments opposing the project, the commission voted to send a favorable vote for the project to the board of supervisors.
