Four indicted by CC grand jury
A West Point woman has been indicted for her alleged unauthorized use of company credit cards. Lisa Ann Jordan, 37, of 202 Patriots Village Court, was indicted Tuesday on four counts of credit card larceny by a Charles City Circuit Court grand jury.
Jordan was arrested on July 27 after she allegedly spent close to $20,000 using two cards, one belonging to David Butler, who owns Servepro. According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Tyler, original charges of embezzlement were amended to credit card larceny due to the complexity of the case.
Other indictments handed up by the grand jury included: Tiffany Dawn Hinchey, 37, of 7621 Roxbury Road, Charles City, on one count of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine); James MacClinton Jones, 39, of 11771 Canora Lane, Ruthville, on one count of possession of drugs; Brian Wayne Slone, 38, of 4800 Barnetts Road, Charles City, on one count each of possession of marijuana, abduction, and malicious wounding and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Former NKHS student dies in crash
A former New Kent High School student who recently moved out of the area is dead after the car she was driving ran off a road in Rockingham County and struck a tree.
Cyndal Ward, 17, died Oct. 31 at University of Virginia Medical Center from injuries sustained in the crash that also claimed the life of another teen. The accident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on the previous day, and state police said speed was a factor in the crash. Ward was a sophomore at New Kent High School last year, but had transferred to Turner Ashby High School in Dayton.
Copper theft suspects caught in act
A pair of Henrico County suspects face several charges after being caught in the act of breaking into a Dominion Virginia Power substation in Charles City County and attempting to steal copper. During the early morning hours of Oct. 22, county deputies responded to the substation on Chambers Road where they encountered a van attempting to drive away. Deputies blocked the van, and a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed burglary tools and a large amount of copper. They arrested the two occupants.
William McKendrie Jefferies, 39, of 18 North Ivy Ave., Highland Springs, is charged with one count each of entering property to commit damage, trespassing on public utility property, possession of burglary tools, and grand larceny. Dee Marie Loving, 35, of the 200 block of Huntsman Road, Sandston, faces one count each of entering property to commit damage, accessory to possession of burglary tools, and accessory to commit grand larceny.
Trio arrested for auto break-ins in NK
Two New Kent County men are among three suspects charged in connection with a break-in spree that targeted both locked and unlocked vehicles along with a garage in the Quinton area of the county.
Brandon Patrick Davis, 18, and Michael Scott Davis Jr., 22, both of the 9600 block of Crumps Mill Road, Quinton, and Christopher Shane Goode, 20, of the 7400 block of Osbourne Turnpike, Henrico, are charged with one count each of burglary, grand larceny, and grand larceny of a firearm stemming from the break-ins that occurred overnight on Nov. 4-5 in the area of the Greenwood Estates and Kenwood Farms subdivisions and along G.W. Watkins Road.
Items reported stolen include firearms, hunting equipment, electronics, musical instruments, and cash.
Goode and Michael Davis also face a charge of felony larceny, third or subsequent offense. All three incurred several misdemeanor charges, including petty larceny and destruction of property. More charges are pending, authorities say. All three were arrested on Nov. 8 and are being held without bond in Henrico Jail East.
Arrest made in 10-month burglary case
Authorities in New Kent say they have tracked down and arrested the suspect believed to be responsible for commercial burglaries that occurred in the county almost 10 months ago.
Peter James Guerrero, 36, (address unavailable), is charged with one count of burglary stemming from break-ins last Jan. 19 at New Kent Gymnastics Center and a vacant building, both located in the New Kent Commercial Center on Emmaus Church Road (Route 106).
Investigators tracked Guerrero to Illinois where he was being held on other charges. Forensic evidence collected at the scene of one of the burglaries implicated the suspect, they say.
Guerrero was extradited to New Kent on Nov. 7 and charged by authorities here. The suspect is being held without bond in Henrico Jail East. Additional charges are pending.
