Former store clerk indicted by New Kent Grand Jury
A former clerk at a local convenience store in New Kent has received seven indictments of embezzlement that resulted in more than $15,000 being stolen.
Marleen Lewis Espada, 48, of 2406 Caddie Lane, Richmond, received the counts during New Kent Circuit Court grand jury proceedings on Monday.
According to the indictments, while employed at Rick’s Local Deli, Espada allegedly stole money on seven different occasions between Jan. 1 and Jan. 30 of this year. In total, $16,305.63 was taken, with the largest amount confiscated at one point totaling $3,653.53. A minimum, of $775 was taken each time according to the indictments.
Several other indictments were handed down by the grand jury including:
–Sharod Nathaniel Blakey, 31, of 3118 Garland Avenue, Richmond, and Anthony Quinn McMorris, 54, of 3201 Garland Avenue, Richmond, each on one count of grand larceny. The duo allegedly stole two air conditioning units belonging to Housing and Urban Development Authority on April 18 of this year.
–Joseph Junior Boyd, 44, of 1505 Tree Ridge Road, Richmond, on one count each of driving as a habitual offender, felony eluding police, misdemeanor damage to a police car, misdemeanor failure to stop, and two counts of misdemeanor reckless driving. The incident allegedly occurred on May 28, 2012.
–David Paul Clark, 38, of Newport News Regional Jail, with three counts of forgery and two counts of obtaining money under false pretenses. According to the indictment, between Dec. 7-12 of last year, Clark allegedly forged three checks belonging to Ken Bowen. In turn, Clark made purchases from Lanexa Place and Stewart’s Groceries with the checks, resulting in him receiving cash.
–Roger Wayne English, 56, of 9900 Old Quarter Lane, New Kent, on one count of felony abduction. English allegedly held a family member against their will on August 16-17, 2011.
–Jeremy Wayne Hall, 34, of 1308 Cypress Drive, Lanexa, on one count each of felony abduction and aggravated sexual battery of a minor. The alleged incidents occurred on Oct. 26, 2010.
–Desmond Milton Jackson, 23, of 106 Little Bay Avenue, Yorktown, with one count of felony eluding police. The indictment indicates the suspect allegedly tried to elude police on March 31.
–Tiffany Kaye Nuttall, 30, of 11561 Cosby Mill Road, New Kent, on two counts of grand larceny. On March 12, Nuttall allegedly stole a television and other items in a camper belonging to Mary Wells.
–Shawn Allen Olsen, 34, of 50 Dwight Court, Martinsburg, West Virginia, on one count each of DUI maiming, felony eluding police, and misdemeanor DUI (2nd offense.) Olsen allegedly struck and injured Dewon Gordon while attempting to escape law enforcement officers on May 1.
–Darren Wright Snyder, 42, of 503 Dartmoor Drive, Apt. 201, Newport News, on one DUI charge (fourth offense). The alleged incident occurred on April 6.
–Daniel Grayson Vaughan, 23, of 8030 Old Roxbury Road, Quinton, on three counts of grand larceny, and one count each of burglary and credit card fraud. According to the indictment, between Oct. 2012-Apr. 2013, Vaughan allegedly broke into the home of Angelo Franceschi and stole jewelry and coins. Vaughan is also accused of stealing a credit card belonging to the victim and using it to make purchases.
–Megan Renee Wyatt, 32, of 17401 Wedgewood Drive, Lanexa, on one count of possession of a controlled substance. The alleged offense occurred on May 30.
