Three arrested in New Kent
New Kent Sheriff’s Office deputies have arrested three individuals in relation to alleged crimes in mid-December.
–Joseph Anthony Martinez, 32, of the 7800 block of North Henpeck Road, Quinton, was arrested on one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. On Dec. 16, Martinez allegedly took a 1994 Chevrolet van without the owner’s permission. After a warrant was issued, he was arrested after he returned the van to the owner and taken to Henrico Jail East and held on a $1,000 secured bond.
— David Luther Holley Jr., 41, of the 8300 block of New Kent Highway, New Kent, and Edward Wayne Shumate Sr., 42, of the 8400 block of North Henpeck Road, Quinton, were both arrested on one charge each of grand larceny. According to the arrest report, Holley and Shumate allegedly stole an outside air conditioning unit on Oct. 6 from a residence that was being renovated. A New Kent deputy was able to recover the unit at a local scrap yard. The duo was later arrested and each was held on a $1,000 secured bond.
Holley also was arrested for an additional grand larceny charge where he allegedly stole copper and gas powered tools from property being renovated on Dec. 5. The items were later recovered at a local pawn shop.
