Two in meth lab bust indicted by New Kent Circuit Court grand jury
A man and a woman involved in a May 12 methamphetamine/marijuana operation received true bills from a New Kent Circuit Court grand jury during May 19 proceedings.
Whitney Renee Marcinak, 23, and Jason Andrew Meade, 25, both of the 6300 block of Hopewell Road, New Kent, each garnered seven identical charges in relation to the raid. Both are charged with one count each of the following: manufacturing methamphetamine, conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm while in possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance (heroin), and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
On May 12, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and New Kent Sheriff’s Office personnel descended on a ramshackle trailer at the Woodbourne Kampground on Hopewell Road. Inside the residence, authorities found a methamphetamine lab, as well as marijuana plants.
Originally, authorities arrested the two suspects on charges relating to a pair of burglaries in the county. A third suspect, Nathaniel Blake Atkins, 23, has been charged with felony heroin possession and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, but has not been formally indicted.
In other indictments rendered by the grand jury:
–Shevinah Purnell Johnson, 19, of Henrico Jail East, on three counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and one count of malicious wounding. According to the indictments, Johnson assaulted security guards during three separate incidents, with one resulting in serious injuries. Johnson was also indicted on one charge of burglary and one misdemeanor charge of petty larceny. Allegedly, Johnson burglarized the Surf & Turf store near Eltham last Dec. 1, stealing chips, candy, and other items.
–Dana Michele Kosky, 44, of the 100 block of Harris Creek Road, Hampton, on one count each of felony eluding police, misdemeanor DUI, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Last Feb. 10, Kosky allegedly fled police after receiving a command to pull over.
–Vaughan Noll Adams, 42, of the 5200 block of Pine Fork Road, Quinton, on one count each of domestic assault and battery (third offense), and abduction. Adams allegedly restrained a female victim against her will on Feb. 25, with the female sustaining injuries.
–Duane James Beckett, 46, of the 400 block of Langley Road, Orangeburg, S.C., on one count each of obtaining money under false pretenses and forgery. According to the indictment, Beckett cashed checks at C&F Bank and received $1,904.65 in funds on Aug. 18, 2011 by forging the signature of another person.
–Reginald J. Carter, 42, of the 3200 block of Quaker Road, Quinton, on one count each of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition, possession of heroin, and driving as a habitual offender. Carter allegedly committed the offenses on Feb. 28 and Mar. 20.
–Kenneth Alton Charity, 50, of Riverside Regional Jail East, on one count each of obtaining money under false pretenses and grand larceny. Allegedly, Charity stole multiple tractors on Jan. 24, 2012 and also obtained money from Samuel Morrison.
–Jeremiah Jerome Harrison, 28, of the 100 block of Marshall Street, Petersburg, on a single count of possession of cocaine (second offense). Harrison allegedly had possession of the substance last Feb. 6.
–David Luther Holley Jr., 42, of the 8500 block of S. Quaker Road, New Kent, on one count each of grand larceny and intent to sell stolen property. The defendant allegedly stole two gold necklaces belonging to Charlotte Holly last March 27 and intended to sell them for profit.
