Drug possession, thievery nets woman seven indictments in NK Circuit Court

A New Kent woman received numerous indictments relating to multiple drug possession and burglary charges during Monday morning New Kent Circuit Court proceedings.

Samantha Nicole Rigdon, 21, of the 9000 block of Shewsbury Drive, New Kent, received a total of seven indictments after a New Kent grand jury convened. Rigdon received three indictments relating to possession of a controlled substance (heroin, Fentanyl, hydrocodone), three indictments on grand larceny relating to the theft of gold chains, necklaces and jewelry in three separate incidents (from Ashley Flescher, Natalie Battilana and Gina Trimmer), and one indictment on burglary from the home of John Rigdon. The defendant allegedly committed the offenses from March to April 2014.

Other indictments released in circuit court:

–Floyd Lee Atkins, 56, of the 8300 block of Old Elam Cemetary Road, Charles City, on one count of driving as a habitual offender. Atkins allegedly operated a vehicle last April 10.

–Mary Beth Andre, 50, of the 6500 block of Charles City Road, Richmond on five counts of embezzlement. According to the indictment, Andre stole money on multiple occasions while working as an employee for Catnip of Richmond’s operation in New Kent from January 2011 to June 2013.

–Emily Marie Bowles, 23, of the 13000 block of John Tyler Highway, and Courtney Lee Stephenson, 27, of the 100 block of Winter East Road, Williamsburg, have each been indicted on one count each of grand larceny and possession of a controlled substance. An indictment indicates both defendants stole goods and groceries from a Food Lion in New Kent. When arrested, Bowles allegedly had cocaine in her possession, while Stephenson allegedly possessed Methylone.

–Timothy James Brewster, 34, of the 6400 block of Chenault Way, Mechanicsville, on two counts of construction fraud and one count of operating a construction business without a license. Last Aug. 1, Brewster allegedly worked on a home belonging to Elizabeth Raby and failed to perform requested work duties. A further investigation revealed he did not have the proper license to do the work.

–Shauna Evelyn Chapman, 27, of the 1000 blcok of Rachael Diann Drive, Quinton, and Christopher Ricardo Delaney, 28, of the 2000 block of Old Route 60, Toano, have both been indicted on two charges in relation to an incident involving monetary gain. Last Jan. 15 and Jan. 22, the duo allegedly worked together to forge checks at a Wachovia bank to receive money from the account of April Brundage. Chapman received her two indictments on forgery charges, while Delaney received his indictments on uttering charges.

–Joseph Karl Fredricks, 48, of the 7900 block of Point Lookout Road, West Point, on one count of assault and battery of a police officer. Fredricks allegedly assaulted a New Kent deputy on May 22.

–David Randolph Lambert, 56, of the 800 block of Winona Avenue SW, Roanoke, on a single count of driving as a habitual offender. Lambert was allegedly caught operating a vehicle on May 15.

–John Douglas Richardson, 22, of the 3000 block of News Road, Williamsburg, on one count each of grand larceny and credit cart theft. According to the indictment, last March 8, Richardson stole a credit card and other items belonging to George and Molly McBeath.

–Ashley Madison Sale-Franklin, 26, of 48 Pinoale Lane, Warsaw, on one count of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine). On Feb. 6, the defendant allegedly possessed the substance and was subsequently arrested.

–Nicholas David Schweickert, 19, of the 4100 block of Virginia Rail Drive, Providence Forge, on one indictment on possession with intent to sell marijuana (more than one-half ounce). The defendant allegedly possessed the substance on March 4.

–Perry N. Sutton, 24, of the 200 block of North Sycamore Street, Apt. 25, Petersburg, on one count each of felony eluding police and misdemeanor reckless driving. Sutton allegedly ignored a visible or audio signal from authorities on Mar. 22.

–Victor George Whitesides, 20, of the 7000 block of New Kent, on DUI (third offense). The defendant allegedly operated a vehicle while intoxicated on April 17.

–Lavele Shurdall Wright, 46, of the 800 block of North Hampton Road, Petersburg, on one count of possession of a controlled substance (schedule I or II). Wright allegedly possessed the illegal substance last Sept. 24.

–Sierria R. Cotterman, 24, of the 1400 block of Mt. Herman Road, Powhatan, on two counts of grand larceny. Through a plea deal, Cotterman admitted in an afternoon trial that she stole jewelry, rings, and a gold coin that belonged to Gregory Adams. Under the agreement, one charge of grand larceny was dropped. Cotterman received a five-year jail sentence, with all but one month suspended. She must also pay $4,500 in restitution.
