North Carolina man faces charges following high-speed chase in New Kent
A North Carolina man has incurred a lengthy list of charges after a police pursuit that began in New Kent County at speeds over 100 miles per hour ended with his arrest near Richmond International Airport in Henrico County.
Todd Michael Bowers, 43, of the 1100 block of Weeksville Road in Weeksville, N.C., faces one count each of felony eluding, narcotics possession, marijuana possession, driving under the influence, and refusal to submit to a blood/breath test. He is also charged with several traffic violations.
The Dec. 31 chase began near mile marker 218 on westbound Interstate 64 when a New Kent deputy attempted to stop Bowers’ vehicle after it entered radar at 104 miles per hour. The pursuit continued into Henrico, eventually ending on airport property where the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Bowers was being held without bond pending a Jan. 6 arraignment in New Kent General District Court.
