New Kent teenager dies in car accident

A New Kent teenager is dead after a fatal accident during the early morning hours of Sept. 13.

Joshua R. Perry, 16, died at the scene of the accident according to the Virginia State police report.

At 1:12 a.m., a single vehicle crashed on Tunstall Road about half a mile south of Old Church Road. The 2011 Ford Fiesta was traveling north on Tunstall Road when it ran off the right side of the road, struck an embankment, went airborne for about 30 yards, striking a tree which spun the car sideways, hitting a second tree and overturning.

It is unknown if Perry was wearing a seatbelt at the time. While the investigation is ongoing, speed is considered a factor in the crash.
