One dies in Charles City vehicle accident

One man has died as the result of an early morning accident in Charles City.

James Reece, 36, of Henrico, died at the scene of the accident on John Tyler Memorial Highway (Route 5).

According to a state police report, a van was traveling westbound on the highway when it veered off the road and struck a tree. A tow truck driver who responded to the crash told police that a child emerged from wreckage and called 9-1-1. The child was taken to a local hospital and released after receiving stitches for cuts sustained in the crash.

Cause of the accident remains under investigation.
