Information released by Virginia’s Department of Education (VDOE) reveal that Charles City High School has one of the highest on-time graduation rates in the state.
The on-time graduation rate is monitored by the state and tracks the number of students who enter into their freshman year and graduate in four years. Charles City posted a 98.25 percent for on-time graduation, easily surpassing the state mark of 90.5 percent.
Charles City public schools is also one of three jurisdictions in the state to post a drop-out rate of zero percent. Data released indicate that only Falls Church City schools and King & Queen public schools to reach that mark.
“The data released by VDOE this week gives our school division a lot to celebrate,” commented Charles City superintendent of schools David Gaston in a press release. “Every student counts in CCPS- one or two students who might decide to give up on their high school diploma is not acceptable. Our goal as a division is to provide challenging and successful high school experiences to each and every one of our students.”
