Providence Forge man killed walking along Interstate 95
A Providence Forge man was killed in northern Virginia as he walked along Interstate 95 Monday night.
According to a Virginia State Police report, Jeremy D. Collins, 36, died in Springfield after he was hit by a car traveling southbound on Interstate 95.
The report indicates a 2012 Toyota Corolla was traveling in the left lane when it approached a pedestrian wearing dark clothing and walking in the travel lane. The car attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to change lanes, striking Collins.
Collins, who had no identification on his person at the time, died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and will not face charges.
