A Charles City man will spend the next five years in prison for an August 2015 attack after receiving formal sentencing during Friday morning proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court.

Todd Alfonzo Tabb, 52, of the 8900 block of Old Elam Cemetery Road, received the minimum sentence on a single count of malicious wounding.

On March 15, a jury convicted Tabb for stabbing Marcus Tyler, the boyfriend of his daughter, at a family barbecue. At that trial, Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Tyler presented evidence showing that Tabb stabbed the victim seven times in the chest with a knife.

The defendant received a total of five years with no time suspended.
