A Petersburg man has died as the result of a two-vehicle crash in Charles City last Saturday afternoon.

Charles H. Moss, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident on Roxbury Road (Route 106) about one mile south of John Tyler Memorial Highway (Route 5) near the Benjamin Harrison Memorial Bridge.

According to Virginia State Police spokesman Stephan Vick, a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling southbound on Roxbury Road when it ran off the right side of the road. The vehicle overcorrected, crossing into northbound traffic and struck a 2015 Buick Enclave head-on.

The driver of the Chrysler, identified as Willie Noise Jr., 69, of Petersburg, was med-flighted to a local medical facility. Moss was a passenger in the Chrysler. Neither Noise nor Moss were wearing a seatbelt according to the state police.

The driver of the Buick, Lynn Tucker, 57 and the passenger, Charles Tucker, 60, both of Newport News, were transported to a local medical facility with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
