Quinton couple arrested for battery thefts

A married Quinton couple has been arrested in relation to several thefts from construction sites located in New Kent County over a one-month time period.

Raymond Hampton Putze Jr., 37, and Amber Marie Schall, 29, both of the 8000 block of North Henpeck Road, were each arrested on four counts each of grand larceny, larceny with the intent to sell, conspiracy to commit grand larceny, and conspiracy to commit a felony.

According to the police report, from Sept. 2 to Oct. 3 heavy-duty batteries from construction machinery at various locations in New Kent were stolen. After an investigation, Putze and Schall were identified as potential suspects. An investigation ensued and officers discovered the couple allegedly had been selling batteries to a recycling shop in Richmond. Additional property taken from one of the sites was found in the couple’s residence and both were arrested on the aforementioned charges. According to the police report, the alleged loss to the victims is estimated to be close to $3,000.

Schall is currently being held without bond, while Putze received a $2,500 secured bond. Both suspects are scheduled to make an appearance in New Kent General District Court.
