Two men who attempted to escape from Henrico Jail East in New Kent are now recovering at a local medical facility after sustaining injuries.

According to a press release, around 9 p.m. on Apr. 18, Frank Arthur and Clayton Musselman were seen on surveillance cameras attempting to scale a fence to escape the jail. The two were cut on the fence’s razor wire and one of the suspects fell to the ground before they were apprehended by New Kent deputies. Both inmates sustained serious injuries during the escape attempt.

Arthur is currently facing charges of manufacturing a controlled substance out of Henrico County. As for Musselman, he is serving a three-and-a-half year prison sentence stemming from a Feb. 13 trial where he accepted a plea deal. Musselman is scheduled to be transferred to Indian Creek Correctional Facility.
