Charles City county administrator Zach Trogdon will be leaving his position in June after being named as direct of the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority.

Trogdon has served as county administrator since 2012, relocating from North Carolina to take the position.

“I really appreciate the county, citizens, and how the staff embraced me,” Trogdon said in a Tuesday afternoon interview. “It’s definitely bittersweet to leave. I have worked with a lot of great people.”

Under his tenure, Trogdon has tackled an array of projects. Among them included addressing issues with wastewater plants in the county.

“Trying to list all the accomplishments and things we have done is something I’m proud of, but there is still stuff I need to do before I leave,” he added.

As he exits, the outgoing county administrator said he hopes he had an impact on the county as the locality did on him.

“I told the board of supervisors when they hired me that I wanted to bring a stable and honest management style,” Trogdon said. “There was never a time that I was mistreated and I want to thank the county for the opportunity they provided me.”

Trogdon’s official last day is June 13.
