Attempted escapees among indictments in New Kent Circuit Court

Two men who attempted to escape Henrico Jail East in New Kent were formally indicted during May 15 morning proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court.

Frank Edward Wilson Arthur, 25, and Clayton Douglas Musselman, 29, both of Henrico Jail East, were indicted on one charge each of attempted escape from a jail facility, destroying property during an escape attempt, and possession of escape tools.

On Apr. 18, the two men allegedly tried to scale the fence of the facility. While attempting to escape, the two men were cut by the fence’s razor wire with one of the suspects falling to the ground. Both men sustained injuries during the alleged escape attempt.

In other indictments certified by the New Kent grand jury:

–Andrew Armando Abierto, 21, of the 100 block of North Furman Street, Alexandria, on a lone charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (greater than one-half ounce but less than five pounds). The defendant allegedly possessed the substance following a traffic stop last Jan. 13.

–Carlton Thomas Banks, 34, of the 6700 block of Poplar Woods Court, Quinton, on one count of possession of heroin. Banks allegedly possessed the substance on Jan. 6.

–Kyle Robert Crews, 20, of the 1200 block of Quaker Road, Quinton, on a single count of failure to appear. The alleged offense occurred on Mar. 21.

–Marvin M. Diaz-Mendez, 35, of the 4000 block of Arcadia Road, Alexandria, on one charge each of driving under the influence (third offense) and driving revoked (endangerment related). According to the indictment, a state trooper initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 64 westbound near mile marker 214 after noticing the registration had expired. Diaz-Mendez allegedly was intoxicated and had his license suspended during the time of the Apr. 5 incident.

–Georgianna Donaldson, 39, of the 600 block of Lyons Avenue, Irvington, New Jersey, on three counts of felony child abuse. Donaldson allegedly operated a vehicle recklessly while having children riding along with her.

–James Everett Edwards III, 20, of the 6400 block of Mihalcoe Lane, Providence Forge, on a lone account of possession of cocaine. The defendant allegedly had the substance in his possession on Mar. 12.

–Norman Kendrel Hogge, 63, of the 12100 block of Indian Hill Lane, Providence Forge, on four counts of carnal knowledge without force. The indictment alleges Hogge committed the offenses against two victims who were ages 13-14 during a time frame that spanned from June 2015 to January 2016.

–Benjamin Michael Shore, 27, of Henrico Jail East, on a single charge of possession of a controlled substance. Shore allegedly had possession of suboxone on Mar. 6 while incarcerated at the jail.

–Jerry Gilbert Washington Jr., 45, of the 15600 block of Cooks Mill Road, Lanexa, on a lone count of grand larceny. The indictment alleges Washington stole more than $200 in cash from Lamont Jones on Sept. 8, 2016.
