New Kent supervisors amend budget to expedite middle school expansion

New Kent supervisors unanimously approved amending the current year’s budget to assist with adding an expansion to New Kent’s Middle School.

A 5-0 vote passed with a favorable recommendation to amend the FY2016-17 budget by $1,266,757 after no one spoke at the May 25 public hearing. The amendment was made as county leaders wanted to expedite the process of increasing capacity at the middle school due to an expected influx in enrollment in upcoming years.
