Motorcyclist killed in Sunday morning accident in Quinton

A Sunday morning crash in New Kent has claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

Around 11:45 a.m., Virginia State police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the 5300 block of New Kent Highway. According to the press release, a 2003 Harley-Davidson was traveling westbound when its rider lost control. The motorcycle slid into a westbound vehicle that had stopped to turn left and then into the eastbound lane where both the rider and motorcycle were struck by an eastbound Ford Transit van.

The motorcyclist, Jeffrey A. Schwenk, 55, of Quinton, died at the scene. The driver of the van was not injured in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
