Route 155 to close on November 9
Courthouse Road (Route 155) at the border of Charles City and New Kent will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 9-11 a.m.
The road will be shut down as a bridge will be dedicated in honor of former New Kent County Sheriff F. W. “Wakie” Howard Jr. for more than 40 years of service. The bridge was chosen in retrospect to Howard’s upbringing in Charles City County and his role as sheriff in New Kent.

Motorists will make a left on Route 602 (Lott Cary Road) in Charles City and will return to Route 155 (Courthouse Road). Travelers from Charles City to New Kent will take Lott Cary Road to Adkins Road and travel south until the reach Pocahontas Trail in New Kent. Motorists will turn right onto Pocahontas Trail to return to Route 155.
The closure is expected to last approximately 90 minutes. Detour and display signs will be visible prior to the event and offer updated information that may include additional time for road closures.
