Bagby, Peace retain delegate seats

Lamont Bagby and Chris Peace have both retained their respective seats in the Virginia House of Delegates following Tuesday night’s general election.

In the race for the 97th District seat that represents New Kent County, Chris Peace easily outdistanced himself from challenger Cori Johnson by a total vote of 24,342-9,314. In New Kent, Peace received 6,007 votes for nearly 71 percent of the ballots cast. By contrast, Johnson received 2,460 votes, or 29 percent, from county citizens.

In the race for the 74th District seat that represents Charles City, Bagby defeated Preston Brown by a total vote of 20,002-6,128. In Charles City, Bagby garnered 1,652 votes while Brown notched 918 votes of the ballots cast. Approximately 21 of the votes were write-ins.
