Update: Two injured on Route 60 in afternoon accident
A Thanksgiving afternoon accident has resulted in one person being transported by helicopter to a local medical facility.
Virginia State Police said shortly before 3 p.m., two individuals were pushing a disabled 1991 Ford Explorer with another steering the car on Route 60 (Pocahontas Trail) in New Kent around the 9000 block when it was struck by a 2012 Honda Civic from the rear. The two individuals pushing the vehicle sustained serious injuries, with one being transported by helicopter and the other by ambulance. The individual steering the disabled car was not injured.
Virginia State Police identified the driver of the Honda as Karley Allen, 22, of Lanexa. She has been charged with reckless driving.
The investigation remains ongoing.
