Additional charges lodged against Charles City man for sex crimes

More allegations of sex crimes by a Charles City man were certified by a grand jury during Tuesday morning proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court.

Rodney Johnson, 52, of the 9500 block of Lewis Tyler Lane, was indicted on six counts each of forcible sodomy and aggravated sexual battery. The events allegedly took place between 1996-2002. In December, Johnson was indicted on eight counts of sexual batter with a minor under the age of 13, six counts of sodomy with a minor under the age of 13, and two counts of sexual penetration with an object.

Johnson’s trial from the previous charges were tentatively set for Mar. 22, but Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Tyler expects that date to change due to the new allegations emerging.

In other indictments certified by the grand jury:

–Terry Tyrell Barnes Jr., 23, of the 1000 block of Neals Corner Road, Clover, and Randy Travon McQuinn, 25, of the 5900 block of Queen Thorpe Court, Apt. 206, Highland Springs, were each indicted on one count each of breaking and entering, grand larceny, and intent to sell stolen property. The duo allegedly entered into the dwelling of Welton Smith Jr. and stole sneakers, jewelry, and belts that was valued at more than $5,000 on Aug. 28, 2017.

–Tevin Lamar Brown, 23, of the 14000 block of The Glebe Lane, Charles City, on one count each of credit card fraud and credit card theft. Brown allegedly stole a credit card belonging to Lionel Allamby on Nov. 4, 2017 and used it to purchase items and lottery tickets in the amount of $490.

–Corey Leroy McFadden, 37, of the 100 block of Fernwood Road, Williamsburg, on three counts of assault and battery on a police officer. McFadden allegedly attacked Charles City deputies on Feb. 21 during proceedings in Charles City General District Court.
