A Charles City woman who used a credit card of a deceased man pled guilty during Friday morning proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court.

Teresa Fay Lloyd, 62, of the 6100 block of Sign Post Lane, entered a guilty plea to a single count of credit card fraud as part of a plea deal.

In a summary of evidence, on Nov. 30, 2017, Barbara Slater notified authorities that transactions were being made on a credit card of a family member who had recently died. After an investigation, Lloyd, who was a caretaker of the deceased person, became of person of interest. Officers recovered information that the defendant had used the card and subsequently arrested her.

Lloyd received a five-year jail sentence with all time suspended but must pay $1,500 in restitution. The defendant is currently facing similar charges in Henrico.

In another case, a Highland Springs man will serve three months in jail stemming from stealing shoes from a Charles City mans’ home.

Randy Travon McQuinn Jr., 25, of the 5900 block of Queen Thorpe Court, received a formal sentencing of 10 years in jail with all but three months suspended on a breaking and entering charge. All ten years on a grand larceny charge were suspended.

McQuinn entered guilty pleas during an Apr. 6 trial as part of a plea agreement. During that trial, a summary of evidence detailed the defendant entering the home of Welton Smith Jr. on Aug. 28, 2017 and stealing tennis shoes, clothes, and jewelry. McQuinn and a co-defendant, Terry Tyrell Barnes Jr., were identified on surveillance film with the items at Round Two Store in Richmond, a resell vendor of such items.
