Alleged car thieves among several indicted in New Kent Circuit Court

Two men allegedly involved in the theft of automobiles have been indicted by a New Kent grand jury.

Hunter S. Waddell, 21, of the 3500 block of Darbytown Court, Henrico, and Jake Sterling Ragsdale, 27, of the 500 block of E. Read Street, Highland Springs, were indicted of multiple charges related to car theft on Nov. 19, 2018. On that date, New Kent Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with Henrico County’s Police Department and the Virginia State Police arrested the two men along with three others who were allegedly involved in the crime. After the arrest, items were found in the vehicles that landed several related theft charges.

Waddell was indicted on two counts each of grand theft auto, credit card larceny, and grand larceny, and one count each of felony destruction of property and firearm larceny. He also received indictments on six misdemeanor charges of tampering with a vehicle and three counts misdemeanor petty larceny.

Ragsdale was indicted on two counts each of grand theft auto and grand larceny, along with felony charges on one count of destruction of property, firearm larceny, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Additional indictments on misdemeanor charges included tampering with a vehicle (four counts) and petty larceny (three counts).

In other indictments certified by the grand jury:

–Myron Terrell Aiken, 36, of the 600 block of All Good Road, Stone Mountain, Georgia, on one count each of malicious wounding and felony failure to appear.

Aiken’s trial was heard Monday afternoon, with the defendant pleading guilty to amended charges of misdemeanor assault and battery and misdemeanor failure to appear.

In a summary of evidence, on Dec. 8, 2016, the victim was operating a semi-truck and was attempting to turn his truck around in the parking lot of the Pilot Travel Center in Talleysville. The defendant stopped his vehicle and began to alert other drivers around him to notify them what he was doing. At that time, Aiken was pulling into Pilot and struck the defendant with his mirror. The victim got up and yelled at Aiken before returning to the cab of his vehicle. As the victim got into his truck, Aiken emerged from his and pulled the defendant out of his truck, punching and kicking the victim. A New Kent deputy responded to the scene and later arrested the defendant.

Aiken received a 12-month sentence with six months suspended (six to serve) on the assault and battery conviction. He will also serve one month in jail for failing to appear for his original trial.

–Joshua Caleb Augburn, 18, currently of Henrico Jail East, Barhamsville, on a single count of malicious wounding. Augburn allegedly assaulted a person on Dec. 27, 2018 to the point where the victim suffered serious injuries.

–John Nicholas Beach, 26, of the 8300 block of Warriner Road, Sandston, on a lone count of possession of a controlled substance. The defendant allegedly possessed Fentanyl on June 6, 2018.

–Bernard Betrum Bethel, 27, of the 4900 block of Helen Potts Place, Williamsburg, on a single charge of malicious shooting at a train or car. Bethel allegedly committed the offense on Apr. 26, 2018.

–Justin Style Bowen, 21, of the 300 block of Timberneck Road, Deltaville, on possession of a controlled substance by a prisoner. The defendant allegedly had Buprenophire in his possession while in incarceration on Sept. 21, 2018.

–James Warren Dixon, 33, of the 100 block of Bellwood Street, West Point, and Roger Charles Eveland, 28, of the 800 block of Kentwood Drive, West Point, on charges of conspiracy to sell heroin. The defendants allegedly attempted to sell the substance on Oct. 4, 2018. Dixon was indicted on two counts and Eveland on a single count.

–Shaun Kenneth Foley, 34, of the 7300 block of Farmer’s Drive, Barhamsville, on one count each of manufacturing a controlled substance and distribution of marijuana. The offenses allegedly took place on May 23, 2018.

–Bernard Allen Johnson, 37, of the 5400 block of Barnetts Road, Charles City on one count each of manufacturing a controlled substance and possession of ammunition by a felon. Johnson allegedly manufactured cocaine on Dec. 19, 2018 and had ammunition on him when he was arrested.

–Darius Josiah Jones, 18, of the 4800 block of Hillbrook Avenue, Richmond on four counts of possession of child pornography (second offense), two counts of carnal knowledge without force with a minor between the ages of 13-14, and one charge each of indecent liberties with a minor under the age of 15 and possession of child pornography. The offenses allegedly took place on Dec. 6, 2018.

–Steven Alonzo Lawrence, 53, of the 5900 block of Golden Wheel Road, Providence Forge, on a single count of felony eluding of police. The offense allegedly took place on Dec. 17, 2018.

–Susan Marie Lewis, 53, of the 3700 block of Bruteer Lane, Richmond, on a single charge of credit card larceny. The defendant allegedly stole a card belonging to Roxanne Maleifino on Oct. 23, 2018.

–Shane William Mack, 29, of the 3300 block of Turtle Rock Drive, Virginia Beach, on a solo count of distribution of marijuana (greater than one-half ounce but less than five pounds). The offense allegedly took place on Jan. 13.

–Nicholas Maday, 33, of the 300 block of Racefield Drive, Toano, on a single charge of DUI (third offense within five years). Maday allegedly operated a vehicle while intoxicated on Nov. 6, 2018.

–Jerel Demetric Mayo, 28, of the 300 block of Dabbs Horse Road, Richmond, on two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Mayo allegedly was in possession of heroin and cocaine on Sept. 20, 2018.

–Patrick Randolph Roberts, 49, of the 2200 block of Q Street, Richmond, on a solo count of grand theft auto. Roberts allegedly stole a car belonging to Joseph Lee Harvie on Oct. 16, 2018.

–William Cardell Spencer, 23, of the 900 block of Marietta Avenue, Norfolk, and Jared Elijah-Thor Flynn, 20, of the 700 block of Freemont Street, Norfolk, on two charges of credit card forgery. Both men allegedly committed the crime on Dec. 3, 2018. Spencer was also indicted on an additional charge of possession of a credit card forgery device.

–Donna Carroll Williams, 42, and Eric Tremaine Williams Jr., 21, both of the 1400 block of Quaker Road, Quinton, on one charge each of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and misdemeanor intimidating a police officer. The offenses allegedly took place on Sept. 13, 2018.

–Julia Catherine Wilson, 23, of the 1800 block of Hurst Drive, Hampton, on a single count of possession of a controlled substance. Wilson allegedly had a substance on her around Oct. 2, 2018.
