Carters Mill Road in Charles City to close for bridge repairs

Virginia’s Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced that Carters Mill Road (Route 606) in Charles City will close beginning July 29 for bridge repairs. Repairs are expected to last approximately one month (weather permitting) as VDOT crews will work on the bridge that spans over Turkey Island Creek.

During repairs, drivers are instructed to use the following detour routes:

–Eastbound Carters Mill Road: Take Carters Mill Rd. west to New Market Road (Route 5) north to Willis Church Road (Route 156) east back to Carters Mill Road.

–Westbound Carters Mill Road: Take Carters Mill Road north to Willis Church Road (Route 156) west to New Market Road (Route 5) south back to Carters Mill Road.
