Following suit to Chickahominy Shores, a second subdivision in New Kent County will allow golf parts and other utility vehicles on VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) roads.

Patriot’s Landing received unanimous approval to allow the alternative modes of transportation throughout the subdivision after New Kent Board of Supervisors approved the measure unanimously at Tuesday night’s regular board meeting. County leaders passed a similar resolution in August for Chickahominy Shores.

Roads within the Patriot’s Landing subdivision that will allow travel for golf carts and utility vehicles are American Holly Lane, Bending Birch Lane, English Boxwood Lane, Flowering Magnolia Lane, Forsythia Court, Kimball Lane, Kings Cross Quay, Leyland Cypress Lane, Loblolly Pine Turn, Market Place Drive, N. Franklin’s Way, Patriot’s Landing Drive, Patriot’s Landing Place, Rambling Rose Court, S. Franklin’s Way, Sugar Magnolia Lane, and Tea Rose Court. Those vehicles are prohibited on East West Lane and Peace Lily Court.

The public is allowed to use the roads, but drivers must be age appropriate and have a license. Drivers still must abide by motor vehicle laws that include obeying the speed limit and not operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Similar to Chickahominy Shores, a review of the resolution will take place in two years.

In other action conducted by the board of supervisors:

–Unanimously approved carryover funds of $11,887,507.74. The funds will be used to complete projects that started in FY2018-19.

–Approved a lease to increase space of RAB Aviation Services LLC by 2,700 square feet.

–Approved a proclamation of Domestic Violence Awareness month.
