Two sex crimes that were lodged against a Quinton man were dismissed with prejudice during Monday morning proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court.

Junior Leroy Layman, 78, had been charged with two counts of sexually violating a child less than 15 years old after being indicted on Sept. 16. During a hearing on Monday morning, Commonwealth’s Attorney Linwood Gregory motioned to dismiss the case, saying that the alleged victim, who is now 30 years old, did not want to testify anymore and wanted to move on with their life.

Judge B. Elliott Bondurant granted the dismissal of the two charges with prejudice, meaning the case cannot return to court.
