Prisoners who broke safety system indicted in New Kent Circuit Court

Three men who tried to destroy a fire protection system at Henrico Jail East in New Kent have been indicted by a grand jury.

Treione Gholson, 22, James Terrance Edgefield Jr., 28, and John Lawrence Ellis Jr., 22, all of Henrico Jail East, were indicted on charges that stemmed over a one-month period. On Nov. 5, 2019, Edgefield and Ellis allegedly tried to break the system. Three days later, Gholson allegedly tried the same thing. On Dec. 4, 2019, Ellis picked up a second charge on a similar crime.

In other indictments certified by the grand jury:

–Jonathan Earl Anderson, 33, of the 2700 block of General Boulevard, Richmond, on one count of possession of a schedule I/II substance. The defendant allegedly was in possession of cocaine on July 6, 2019.

–Matthew Travis Burns, 30, of the 8200 block of New Kent Highway, New Kent, on three counts of petty larceny (third offense). Burns allegedly attempted to steal license plates, inspection stickers, and medication on Nov. 29, 2019.

–Stephanie Lorraine Fikes, 54, of the 100 block of Delmar Lane, Newport News, on a single charge of possession of a schedule I/II substance. Fikes allegedly was in possession of cocaine on May 5, 2019.

–Jason Scott Forrest, 41, of the 16000 block of Cooks Mill Road, Lanexa, on a solo charge of unauthorized used of a vehicle. The defendant allegedly used the vehicle of Paul Efird without his permission on Nov. 8, 2019.

–Damon Jevaughn Griggs Jr., 19, of Henrico Jail East, on one single count of distribution of marijuana greater than one-half ounce but less than five pounds.

Griggs case was heard Monday afternoon, with the defendant pleading guilty to an amended charge of misdemeanor distribution of marijuana (less that one-half ounce). In a summary of evidence, Griggs was pulled over during a traffic stop when the officer detected the odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle resulted in small bags of the substance inside a mason jar. The defendant admitted the substance belonged to him.

Under the plea agreement, Griggs received a 12-month sentence with 10 months suspended (two months to serve).

–John Coley Herrington, 37, of the 100 block of Hodges Lane, White Stone, on one count each of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and misdemeanor DUI. Herrington allegedly possessed Hashish Oil on Sept. 19, 2019 when he was pulled over for allegedly driving under the influence.

–Sarah Ann Hunkele, 31, of the 6300 block of Old Union Road, Charles City, on two charges of possession of a schedule I/II substance. The defendant allegedly possessed heroin and cocaine on June 27, 2019 upon her arrest.

–Lauren Nicole Mathias, 35, of the 3100 block of Augustus Lane, Lanexa, on two counts of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. The indictment alleges Mathias attempted to distribute cocaine and had ammunition in her possession on Dec. 4, 2019.

–Brianna Nash, 19, of the 6000 block of Miles Road, Powhatan, on a solo count of possession of a schedule I/II substance. Nash allegedly possessed cocaine on May 27, 2019.

–Eugene Meredith Otey, 45, of the 4500 block of Wimbledon Road, Williamsburg, on one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. Otey allegedly possessed methamphetamine on June 11, 2019.

–Matthew Shane Perkins, 27, of the 11000 block of Enchanted Woods, Fredericksburg, on one count of possession of a schedule I/II substance. Perkins allegedly possessed methamphetamine on July 6, 2019.

–Yves Gerald Pretto, 37, of the 3200 block of Bentham Lane, Chesapeake, on one charge each of felony identification theft and credit card larceny. Pretto allegedly stole credit card information on May 28, 2019 and used false identification on Aug. 20, 2019.

–Louis Angel Renteria, 36, of the 8400 block of Burks Mill Drive, North, on a single count of possession of a schedule I/II substance. Renteria allegedly possessed methamphetamine on June 17, 2019.

–Christopher Wilson Rickman, 49, of the 200 block of Naglee Avenue, Sandston, on a single count of possession of a schedule I/II substance. Rickman allegedly possessed a combination of heroin and Fentanyl on Oct. 12, 2019.

–Kevin Alton Robinson, 40, of the 10000 block of Haley Hollow Court, Glen Allen, on one count of possession of a controlled substance. Robinson allegedly was in possession of methamphetamine on Aug. 22, 2019.

–Hannah Lynn Schureman, 18, of the 5000 block of Holly Road, Quinton, on one count of possession of a schedule I/II substance. The defendant allegedly had Hashish Oil on July 16, 2019.

–Christina Marie Turgeon, 38, of the 1400 block of Myradore Drive, Richmond, on a single charge of possession of a schedule I/II substance. The offense allegedly took place on Oct. 13, 2019.
