First case of coronavirus identified in New Kent

The Chickahominy Health District (CHD) announced today (March 27) the first COVID-19 case in New Kent County.

The individual is a female in her 20s who has been monitoring herself at home and whose symptoms are resolving. Charles City County, who also falls under the umbrella in the Chickahominy Health District, identified its first case last week.

CHD continues to work with the Virginia Department of Health and the Center of Disease and Control prevention to provide the best guidelines for the community. Social distancing is still being encouraged to be practiced to lessen the impact of the spread of the virus.
